13. India's Struggle for Independence - Bipan Chandra, Mridula Mukherjee, Aditya Mukherjee, Sucheta Mahajan, KN Panikkar (History)

The preparation of UPSC is never complete without studying the history and freedom struggle.  All the authors of this book are well known historians.  Here is a detailed description of the period from 1857 to 1947.  This book has been prepared after extensive research.

14. Post-Independence India - Bipan Chandra, Mridula Mukherjee, Aditya Mukherjee (History)

Written by Bipan Chandra, Mridula Mukherjee and Aditya Mukherjee as part of India's freedom struggle.  The book provides a comprehensive analysis of the country's successes and challenges since independence from British rule.  The five-decade journey of India has been studied in detail.  It covers foreign policy as well as the political and economic agenda of the Nehru government. 

15. History of Medieval India - Satish Chandra (History)

16. Indian Ancient Past - RS Sharma (History)

17. A Brief History of Modern India - Rajiv Ahir (History)

The book, published from the political spectrum, deals with the arrival of the Portuguese in the country and related events.  Attempts have been made to chronicle all the events from the arrival of the first Europeans in India to the overthrow of the mighty emperors and their kingdoms.

19. Important Decision That Transformed India - Alex Andrews George (Politics) 

The book details the most important court decisions that affect society as well as the country's judiciary as a whole.  The decisions of the Supreme Court, which paved the way for changes in the Constitution, have been compiled and given the form of a book.  You will rarely find a better book for information on important court cases.  The author is a teacher and civil service exam instructor.
