JNU first woman Vice Chancellor: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has got its first woman Vice Chancellor. This responsibility has been given to Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit, Professor, Savitribai Phule Pune University.

Professor Shantishree Dhulipudi Pandit has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of JNU. Shantishri Dhulipudi is currently a professor at Savitribai Phule Pune University.So far Professor M. Jagdish Kumar was the Vice Chancellor of JNU. He is now the new chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC). Jagdish Kumar's 5 year tenure as JNU VC ended on 26 January 2021. After this, the tenure of JNU Vice Chancellor was extended.



According to the notice issued, the tenure of Shantishri Dhulipudi will be five years, from the day on which Shantishri will assume office. Shantishri Dhulipudi was born on July 15, 1962 in Russia. Shantishri Dhulipudi's mother and father were both from educational background. Dhulipudi Anjaneyulu, a retired civil servant, was a journalist and writer. At the same time, mother Mulamudi Adilakshmi was a professor of Tamil and Telugu in Russia at the Leningrad Oriental Faculty Department (USSR).

Who is Shantishri Dhulipudi Pandit?


Pandit is an alumnus of JNU. From which he did his MPhil and PhD in International Relations in 1986 and 1990 respectively. Born in Russia and speaks six languages ​​including Sanskrit, Pandit started his teaching career as a lecturer in political science at Goa University in 1988. In addition to his current work as a professor of politics and MPhil, PhD at SPPU, he also teaches papers such as Mass Media Audience, Media Research, Politics and Communication in the university's Department of Communication Studies. In addition to his teaching career, Pandit has served at SPPU as part of the Management Council and the Senate, as a member of several national and international think tanks. Has worked on a number of government-appointed committees, such as the UGC Committee on Higher Education for XI.



She has also made significant contributions to the Advisory Committee for the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and elsewhere. Pandit has been working at the Military Intelligence Training School, Pune since 1995 in the context of Asia-Pacific region and India's security. Pandit has published three books and more than 170 dissertations and articles in prestigious journals on political science and foreign policy.
