Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examinations to be held on 29 January, 30 January, 5 February and 12 February in the state have been postponed. This information was given by the Maharashtra Public Service Commission through a press release. The main exam was to be held for Group B grade posts.
However, in the pre-examination held before this main examination, some students had claimed that the Maharashtra Public Service Commission had made a mistake while checking the answer sheets. A petition was filed in the Mumbai High Court by 86 students who claimed this. The students claimed that they missed the opportunity to appear in the main examination by a score or two due to a mistake committed by the commission while checking the answer sheets. The High Court had then ruled that students should be allowed to appear in the examination on a temporary basis. Other candidates later got one or two less due to commission's fault and ran the court claiming that they missed the main exam.
An agitation was also organized by the students pursuing MPSC in Pune. However, he added that if the number of students appearing for the main examination suddenly increases, it will not be possible to take the examination due to limited number of question papers and answer sheets. The Maharashtra Public Service Commission has decided to postpone the examination. The next date of these examinations will be announced later.
