There is no denying the fact that Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) examination is the toughest examination in India. The UPSC exam is also called IAS exam in common language. Every year lakhs of students from across the country appear in UPSC exam but only few of them succeed in clearing the UPSC exam. Here we will talk about a cricketer who had cleared the UPSC exam before making his debut for India.
Born in 1972, former India player Amay Khurasiya, who belongs to Madhya Pradesh, had cleared UPSC exam before his ODI debut. Khurasia is now posted in the Customs and Central Excise Department.
Khurasia started his cricketing career at a very young age and made his first-class cricket debut when he was only 17. Before playing for India at international level, Khurasia succeeded in cracking the UPSC exam.
Amay Khurasiya made his debut for Team India in 1999 against Sri Lanka in Pepsi Cup. Amay Khurasia performed well in his debut match and went on to score 57 runs in just 45 balls. But after the first match, Khurasia did not perform well in other matches and his international cricket career ended after a few years.
Amay Khurasiya played only 12 ODI mathces for India and scored only 149 runs. Khurasia played his last match against Sri Lanka in 2001. But Khurasia played 119 first class matches for for Madhya Pradesh and scored over 7000 runs.
